CiCLO® is a patented fiber technology developed by Intrinsic Advanced Materials (IAM), LLC. We are the official CiCLO® representative and distributor in China, working with IAM-certified spinning mills to supply CiCLO® polyester and nylon - filament and staple - to buyers worldwide.

 

 

Solving what happens after the fiber sheds
Polyester and nylon shed microscopic fibers during production, wear, and washing - that part doesn't change with CiCLO. What changes is what happens next. The CiCLO additive is dosed into the polymer at the molecular level during yarn spinning and stays inactive through the product's entire use life - it won't affect performance in the wash or on the shelf. Only when fibers reach environments rich in moisture and microorganisms - seawater, soil, wastewater sludge, or anaerobic landfills - do naturally occurring microbes recognize the fiber and break it down over time, significantly reducing long-term microplastic accumulation compared to conventional synthetics.

 

Backed by independent lab data
Across four ASTM/ISO-tested environments, CiCLO fibers consistently biodegrade at 90%+, compared to near-zero degradation for untreated synthetics over the same period:

 

 

Third-party testing confirms that CiCLO® synthetic fibers achieve high rates of biodegradation over extended testing periods, whereas untreated synthetics show minimal to no measurable degradation under identical conditions. The CiCLO additive itself is OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified and REACH compliant, with biodegradation testing carried out by Intertek, Bureau Veritas, and Eden Research Laboratory.

 

It's worth noting biodegradable isn't the same as compostable: CiCLO fibers aren't designed for industrial composting facilities, which typically don't process textiles at all. Instead, they are engineered to break down in real-world waste environments - such as seawater, soil, wastewater treatment plant sludge, and anaerobic landfills - where microfiber pollution commonly ends up.

 

Certified at every batch, not just on paper
Every batch of CiCLO® yarn is sent to IAM's U.S. headquarters for testing before certification is issued, and finished goods must pass the same verification before qualifying for a CiCLO® Certificate of Authenticity and hangtag. That means the CiCLO claim on a certified product is checked at the source - the yarn stage - not just declared by the manufacturer downstream.

 

Safe by independent testing, not just by design
Beyond biodegradation, the chemistry itself has been tested for human and environmental safety under OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT, which verifies compliance with industry statutory requirements. Separate independent testing has also confirmed that the biodegradation process itself - CiCLO polyester breaking down in seawater and soil - is non-toxic to marine and plant life.

 

No compromise on the properties you're already buying for
CiCLO isn't a replacement material - it's a small percentage of additive introduced during spinning, and the base fiber remains standard polyester or nylon in every measurable way. It's still polyester. It's still nylon. Tensile strength, elasticity, dye uptake, and processability on existing spinning and weaving lines are unaffected, because the polymer itself hasn't changed - what's added is a pathway for microbes to eventually break the fiber down, not a different fiber. CiCLO fibers blend freely with cotton, wool, Tencel, spandex, and other fibers, with no effect on how those materials perform or degrade.

Every certified batch carries tracers embedded at the spinning stage, verified through IAM's U.S. testing before a CiCLO® Certificate of Authenticity (CCOA) is issued - so the claim on your hangtag is backed by testable proof, not just a supplier's word.

 

It's worth being clear on what the CCOA does and doesn't cover: it verifies that your goods are made with genuine CiCLO® fiber, but it isn't, by itself, permission to display the CiCLO® hangtag or use CiCLO trademarks in your own marketing and promotion. That requires a separate application to IAM and formal written authorization in advance - a step IAM enforces to protect the consistency and value of the CiCLO® brand in the market.
