What materials are included in new eco-friendly fabrics?
Aug 19, 2025
New eco-friendly fabrics refer to materials that adopt innovative technologies in production, use renewable or biodegradable raw materials, significantly reduce environmental impact, and simultaneously possess excellent performance. These fabrics are increasingly important in the field of sustainable fashion, mainly including the following innovative materials:
Bio-based polyester fibers: Such as Sorona, which uses corn glucose as raw material instead of petroleum sources. The production process is environmentally friendly, and its unique molecular structure provides elasticity similar to natural springs and automatic recovery performance, making it resistant to deformation and suitable for elastic fabrics.
Polylactic acid fiber (PLA): Also known as corn fiber, it is extracted from corn or wheat and is biodegradable. Waste can naturally decompose in nature. It is lightweight and UV-resistant, often used in sportswear, casual clothing, and home textile products.
Lyocell fiber: Commonly known as Tencel, it is made from bamboo and wood pulp with low pollution in the production process. It combines moisture absorption, breathability, fast heat dissipation, and a soft touch, making it suitable for cool summer clothing. Meanwhile, its stability is better than traditional man-made fibers.
Triacetate fiber: An eco-friendly rayon with a strong luster and wrinkle resistance. It replaces silk to reduce resource consumption and is often used in luxury clothing, but requires certification to ensure authenticity (such as certification from Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan).
Recycled polyester fiber: Yarn made from degraded recycled plastic bottles. It is creatively eco-friendly, reduces plastic pollution, and is widely used in innovative designs of brands, though its comfort is slightly lower than that of natural fibers.
Bamboo fiber: Derived from bamboo, it is produced through an eco-friendly process. It has natural antibacterial properties, is moisture-absorbent and breathable, and has a soft texture, making it suitable for close-fitting clothing and representing green fibers.
Xiangyunsha: A fabric made using traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques. It uses natural mulberry silk and the plant Dioscorea cirrhosa for dyeing, rich in amino acids and antioxidants. It is healthy and eco-friendly, suitable for wearing in all seasons, especially with excellent breathability in summer.
These materials promote the sustainable development of the textile industry by reducing the use of chemical reagents, improving biodegradability, or utilizing recycled resources. When choosing, consumers can pay attention to certification labels (such as organic cotton or Lyocell logos) to ensure environmental friendliness.
