China's Yarn Exports Grow 6.4% in The First Six Months

Yarn and Fabric Exports Grow in January-June

In terms of overall exports of yarn and fabric, from January to June 2025, China's exports of yarn and fabric reached 41.5 billion USD, a year-on-year growth of 2.9%. Broken down by specific products, yarn exports stood at 7.46 billion USD, up 6.4% year-on-year; fabric exports reached 34.05 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%.

Sharp Drop in Yarn and Fabric Imports in January-June

On the import front, China's imports of intermediate products dropped significantly. From January to June, total imports of yarn and fabric amounted to 3.35 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%. By specific products, yarn imports were 2.23 billion USD, down 19.3% year-on-year; fabric imports reached 1.12 billion USD, a year-on-year decline of 15.2%.

Decline in Yarn and Fabric Imports and Exports in June

In terms of exports, in June alone, China's exports of yarn and fabric totaled 6.92 billion USD, a year-on-year drop of 2.1%. Among them, yarn exports reached 1.24 billion USD, up 1.8% year-on-year; fabric exports stood at 5.68 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 2.9%.

For imports, in June alone, China's imports of yarn and fabric amounted to 560 million USD, a year-on-year decline of 13.7%. Specifically, yarn imports were 360 million USD, down 12.9% year-on-year; fabric imports reached 200 million USD, a year-on-year drop of 15.2%.

Textile Exports Drive Textiles and Apparel Exports in January-June

From January to June, exports of textiles and apparel totaled 143.98 billion USD, a year-on-year growth of 0.8%. Among them, textile exports reached 70.52 billion USD, up 1.8% year-on-year; apparel exports stood at 73.46 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%. The growth of textiles and apparel exports was driven by textiles. Among the four major product categories, yarn exports rose 6.4%, fabric exports increased 2.2%; home textiles grew 0.2%, while exports of knitted and woven apparel dropped 0.2%.

Mixed Performance in Top 10 Fabric Export Markets

Asia is the main market for China's fabric exports. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative fabric exports to Asian countries reached 22.78 billion USD, accounting for 66.9% of total fabric exports. Among the top 10 export target markets, 6 are in Asia. Vietnam, as China's largest single fabric export market, accounted for 15.8% of China's global fabric exports, with export value reaching 5.38 billion USD, a year-on-year drop of 5.3%.

From January to June, among major export markets, the top 10 markets showed mixed performance (with both increases and decreases). Exports to Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Brazil, and the UAE declined by 5.3%, 3.2%, 0.7%, 0.7%, and 18.9% respectively, while exports to the remaining countries maintained growth. Notably, exports to Cambodia, Nigeria, and Egypt saw significant growth, rising by 11.7%, 37.4%, and 21.3% respectively.

Chemical Fiber Woven Fabrics and Cotton Fabrics: One Up, One Down in Exports

By major product categories, from January to June, exports of chemical fiber woven fabrics and cotton fabrics reached 14.4 billion USD and 4.64 billion USD respectively, with the former growing 0.2% and the latter dropping 1.4%. Exports of silk woven fabrics stood at 160 million USD, up 6.2%; exports of wool and animal hair woven fabrics reached 170 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%.
