Joint Statement of the China-US Stockholm Economic and Trade Talks
The Government of the People's Republic of China ("China") and the Government of the United States of America ("the United States"),
Recalling the Joint Statement of the China-US Geneva Economic and Trade Talks concluded on May 12, 2025 ("Geneva Joint Statement"); and
Taking into account the bilateral talks held in London from June 9-10, 2025, and in Stockholm from July 28-29, 2025;
Reaffirming their commitments under the Geneva Joint Statement, the Parties agree to implement the following measures by August 12, 2025:
1. The United States will continue to modify the implementation of additional ad valorem tariffs on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macau Special Administrative Region) as stipulated in Executive Order 14257 of April 2, 2025. Specifically, the 24% tariff will be suspended for an additional 90 days effective August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods as specified in the Executive Order.
2. China will continue to:
(i) Modify the implementation of additional ad valorem tariffs on US goods as stipulated in Announcement No. 4 of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council (2025). Specifically, the 24% tariff will be suspended for an additional 90 days effective August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% tariff on these goods; and
(ii) Adopt or maintain necessary measures to suspend or remove non-tariff countermeasures against the United States, in accordance with the Geneva Joint Statement.
This Joint Statement is based on the discussions held during the China-US Stockholm Economic and Trade Talks, which was convened under the institutional framework established by the Geneva Joint Statement. The Chinese delegation was led by Vice Premier He Lifeng of the State Council, and the US delegation by Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer.
